300/5.6 Canon FL-F (Fluorite)
The 300/5.6 Canon FL-F was one of three FL lenses designed using fluorite elements. Fluorite
provides a very refraction and dispersion, which can be used to reduce chromatic aberration. Fluorite is
very difficult to work with (and this design uses two fluorite elements), making this lens considerabley
more expensive than a typical 300mm lens of this speed.
It appears that earlier examples were marked FL-F, and later examples FL Fluorite on the barrel.
